Sonya Medina De Valazquez, Minor Injured in Car Accident on F.M. 659 in El Paso County, TX

Officials indicate that, for unknown reasons, the pickup truck attempted a left turn onto southwest bound Zaragoza Road at an unsafe time, failing to yield the right of way to F.M. 659 traffic. This resulted in a collision between the front end of the pickup truck and the right side of a northeast bound Chevy Cobalt occupied by 58-year-old Sonya Medina De Valazquez and a 14-year-old girl. The collision caused the Cobalt to veer off of the right side of the road and crash into a wall behind a local buisiness.

De Valazquez sustained suspected severe injuries as a result of the wreck, while the teen incurred apparently moderate injuries. Both were transported to local medical facilities by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment. No other injuries have been reported.

Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
