An engine issue is obviously serious to investigate, but doing so can be a lot more delicate than people may realize. Obviously, there’s the possibility that the plane was in disrepair or had known issues. Generally speaking, if a skydiving business neglects routine repairs or allows customers to get onto a plane it knows could be dangerous, that’s a serious oversight that needs to be addressed.
However, there’s also the possibility this all happened due to some unforeseeable defect. The challenge is being able to distinguish between maintenance issues, sudden damage, and defects due to manufacturing flaws. That’s generally far beyond the capabilities of typical emergency response agencies. That’s why a crash like this may need to be put in the hands of more dedicated specialists who have experience with plane crashes like this.
