Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
It’s important that serious accidents like this always receive a thorough investigation to make sure nothing important slips through the cracks. One of the common issues people encounter with police reports is they often just scratch the surface. More complex details can easily go unnoticed.
For example, why was there only one person injured here? That could just be the natural result of certain circumstances, but sometimes it’s a red flag that something meant to protect the victim didn’t work. Did their airbag go off? Did their seatbelt lock? Did their seat assembly stay in place? Vehicle defects rarely get attention from authorities, so they can easily be overlooked without a more thorough vehicle inspection.
I’m not necessarily saying a vehicle defect contributed to this accident, but there’s no evidence otherwise right now. The point is that when people feel their situation isn’t getting the attention it deserves, it’s important to trust that instinct and consider having more thorough investigators take a look at things.
