Bastrop County, TX — July 20, 2024, Robert Kinnibrugh was injured following a motorcycle versus car accident at 10:15 p.m. along Highway 21.
Authorities said that the incident took place in the area of Highway 21 and F.M. 20, between Bastrop and Wyldwood.
According to officials, 29-year-old Robert Kinnibrugh was on a Honda motorcycle going eastbound on main lanes of the highway. In a series of events not confirmed, the motorcycle and a Tesla collided. Kinnibrugh was thrown from the bike and sustained serious injuries as a result. Right now, no further information about the crash can be confirmed.

When it comes to motorcycle wrecks, I always take preliminary reports with several pinches of salt. It isn’t that there are specific details here that make me skeptical. It’s just that seeing countless motorcycle accident investigations over the years taught me that some officers can’t see past their bias when conducting investigations. Despite the fact many riders are safe drivers, folks just automatically assume the motorcyclist was in the wrong. Whether or not that happens, the way to know for sure is to make sure investigations cover all possibilities. That way, the facts, rather than preconceived biases, can tell the story.
