Dodge County, MN — February 26, 2025, Raymond Kyllo was injured in a truck accident at about 8:30 a.m. on State Highway 30.
Authorities said a Freightliner garbage truck crashed into a 2011 Ford Ranger while leaving a driveway near mile marker 205 in Hayfield Township.
Ford driver Raymond Richard Kyllo, 90, was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after the crash, according to authorities.
The truck driver was not injured.
Authorities have not released any additional information about the crash at this time. The accident is still being investigated.

When I see a report that a garbage truck crashed into another vehicle while leaving a driveway, my first thought is that investigators need to examine whether the truck driver followed the right-of-way rules. Large trucks, especially those making frequent stops like garbage trucks, have a responsibility to enter roadways carefully and ensure they aren’t obstructing traffic. If the driver pulled out without enough time for the approaching vehicle to react, that could explain how this crash happened.
Another key factor is visibility. Garbage trucks are large and have significant blind spots, but that doesn’t absolve drivers from making sure the road is clear before pulling out. Investigators should determine whether the truck’s mirrors and safety equipment were in proper working order and whether anything — such as parked vehicles, trees or other obstructions — affected the driver’s ability to see oncoming traffic.
Road design could also play a role. Was the driveway located on a curve or an incline, making it harder for both drivers to see each other? Were there proper signs or markings to warn motorists of slow-moving trucks entering the roadway? Investigators should consider whether the roadway itself contributed to the collision.
At this point, we don’t know exactly what led to this crash. But if authorities don’t examine the full context they might overlook key details that explain why this wreck really happened.
