Authorities indicate that on June 18, a fatal accident occurred when two vehicles collided near Gibbon for unknown reasons. Police say a Pontiac was heading west along Interstate 80 when it allegedly drove over the median into eastbound traffic. According to reports, the Pontiac entered the path of an oncoming semi-truck, and the two vehicles collided.
Officials confirmed the Pontiac driver, 22-year-old Pablo Briceno, suffered fatal injuries in the crash. No other injuries were reported.
The investigation is ongoing.
