Authorities say that on May 26, a crash occurred when a semi-truck, for reasons unknown, entered into a rolling motion off the highway while attempting to exit. Sources say the semi was hauling cattle and lost several in the collision. The accident occurred shortly before 3:00 a.m. on I-80 at I-74 Interchange.
Investigators have not determined what caused the semi-driver to lose control of the vehicle. The semi-driver sustained fatal injuries in the crash.
According to reports, an additional accident occurred shortly after the first crash due to some free-roaming cows from the previous accident. A vehicle reportedly struck a cow on the road and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
No other injuries were reported.
