Accident Report

March 3, 2026, a teen was injured in a motorcycle versus car accident just before 9:15 p.m. along the S.L. 322 service road.

According to authorities, a 19-year-old man was traveling on a southeast bound Harley-Davidson motorcycle on S.H. 36 at the S.L. 322 northeast bound service road intersection when the accident took place. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, the motorcycle apparently attempted a left turn without yielding to oncoming traffic. A collision consequently followed between the motorcycle and a northwest bound Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck.

The motorcyclist reportedly sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision. It does not appear that anyone else was hurt. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.

How Did This Accident Occur?

It’s easy to glance at this accident and come to the conclusion that the motorcyclist must have been the one who caused it. I’ve been doing this job for along time, though. I’ve learned that, until the investigation is complete and their findings are publicly known, you really shouldn’t make assumptions. After all, motorcyclists tend to get a bad rap, whether or not they actually deserve it. Hopefully the investigators are being as thorough and openminded as they should be.

I am not trying to say I know more about this accident than anyone else outside of the investigation. I just want to point out that, while the chance is slim, the traffic light could have given contradicting signals to each of the drivers. Traffic lights, while excellent tools, overall, are not infallible. I know the motorcyclist has been cited for failure to yield, but what if the authorities got it wrong? It might take an outside investigator to set fresh eyes on the situation. I wouldn’t want the victim to be blamed for something that was not actually his fault.
