Guadalupe County, TX — August 5, 2024, Matthew Rasmussen was killed and two others were injured after a truck accident at around 10:21 a.m. along F.M. 725.
Authorities said that the crash took place in the area of the F.M. 725 and Leissner School Road intersection, southwest of Seguin.

According to officials, 49-year-old Matthew Rasmussen was in a Ford F-350 going westbound along F.M. 725. A Chevy Silverado pulling a trailer was going eastbound. For reasons not confirmed right now, the trucks ended up colliding head-on. As a result, Rasmussen was killed. Two people from the Silverado were seriously injured.

While no other details are confirmed right now, authorities mentioned investigating alcohol as a possible factor. That could just be standard procedure for these authorities following any fatal wreck. When it is a factor, though, it can create a significantly challenging situation. That’s because many alcohol-related accidents involve negligent alcohol providers who illegally over-served someone. Those providers can be responsible when they contribute to deadly accidents, which is something that too often slips through the cracks if authorities are too narrow in the scope of their investigations. Perhaps authorities here have been more thorough than usual, but it wouldn’t be unusual if there turned out to be more to this story.
