UPDATE (June 8, 2023): Texas DPS officials released the names of those involved in the truck wreck, including one who is said to have succumbed to their injuries. The victim killed due to the crash was identified as 20-year-old Khaled Al Masalmah. Three others hurt in the crash were 23-year-old Alaa Fares, 34-year-old Mohammad Mahasneh, and 21-year-old Mohammad Alachmouti. Currently, additional details about the crash can’t be confirmed pending further investigations.
Smith County, TX — June 6, 2023, four people were injured as the result of a semi-truck accident at around 8:00 p.m. along Interstate 20.
Preliminary details about the truck accident were released by Texas Department of Public Safety officials, who say it took place in the area of mile marker 549, just outside of Lindale.
According to officials, a pickup was going along the westbound lanes of the interstate when, for reasons yet to be confirmed, the pickup crashed with a semi-truck. This caused the pickup to careen onto the median where it overturned.
Four people were believed to have been ejected from the pickup during the rollover. They were all flown to the hospital with suspected serious injuries. No other injuries were reported. At this time, factors surrounding the cause of the crash are still under investigation.
