Galveston County, TX — November 11, 2024, Keith McRight Jr. was injured as the result of a motorcycle accident at around 1:45 a.m. along Main Street.
Authorities said in preliminary statements that the accident happened in the area of Main Street/F.M. 518 and Ellis Road.
Investigators said that 31-year-old Keith McRight Jr. was on a Yamaha motorcycle at the time going westbound. A Ford Expedition was also going westbound. For reasons unconfirmed, the motorcycle and the SUV collided.
McRight sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash. There did not appear to be any other resulting injuries. Additional details are unavailable at this time.

One of the challenges with motorcycle accidents is just ensuring the reporting is actually accurate. A lot of people have a negative bias against riders. This can sometimes lead to authorities jumping to conclusions or ignoring important extenuating circumstances.
I handled a crash not long ago, for example, where authorities falsely blamed the victim. They said a witness saw the rider going too fast and weaving through traffic. The family was shocked to hear this, because they knew the victim was a safe driver. Well, when we interviewed that witness, they were just as shocked. All they told the investigating officers was that the motorcyclist passed them on the left. The officer—and inexperienced rookie—simply let his bias warp the facts, and he made a mistake.
Had that family not trusted their instincts, it’s possible the truth never would have come to light. Of course, there are times where independent investigations confirm what police already know. My point isn’t to speculate about what happened in this accident. Rather, I try to remind people that there’s no telling what led to a crash without looking at the evidence. Until that evidence has been gathered through thorough investigations, it’s best to avoid jumping to conclusions one way or another.
