If the allegations here are true, then it’s a shame to see yet another death on our roads due to alcohol. Folks may think charging the driver will ensure there is accountability for this accident, but the truth is that may only be half the story. A lot of the time, drunk drivers were unlawfully over-served by an alcohol provider, and they, too, can face consequences.
Simply put, it’s unlawful in Texas for an alcohol provider to serve someone who is obviously intoxicated. Doing so exposes the alcohol provider to potential criminal investigations, fines, and liability for the resulting injuries or deaths. These possible avenues help ensure all wrongdoers can be held responsible for the hardships their actions led to. The question now is if authorities are being thorough enough to look into where this alleged drunk driver may have been drinking and whether or not there’s an accomplice responsible for contributing to a man’s death.
