UPDATE (June 7, 2023): Further information from authorities identified the victims involved in the accident. The woman who lost her life was identified as 82-year-old Joann McLean. The injured woman was said to be 56-year-old Dana Marie Frost. Right now, additional details regarding the cause of the crash cannot be confirmed.
Kaufman County, TX — May 26, 2023, one person was killed and another was injured following an 18-wheeler accident at 12:50 p.m. along U.S. Highway 80.
Preliminary information from the Texas Department of Public Safety indicated that the incident took place in the area of eastbound U.S. 80 at County Road 309.
According to officials, an SUV was traveling westbound along U.S. 80. At the County Road 309 intersection, authorities say that the SUV attempted a turn. Doing so, an eastbound tractor-trailer crashed into the SUV.
One person from the SUV was said to have died from their injuries at the scene of the crash. Another person in the SUV had apparently serious injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment. Right now, there are no further injuries mentioned. Exact factors surrounding the crash are still under investigation at this time.
