Accident Report

March 12, 2026, Hunter Manvel was injured due to a car accident at approximately 4:45 a.m. along State Highway 6, Morris Avenue.

According to authorities, 21-year-old Hunter Clement was traveling in a westbound Kia K5 on Morris Avenue at the S.H. 6 on/off ramp intersection when the accident took place. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, the Kia failed to appropriately control its speed. It was consequently involved in a rear-end collision with a westbound GMC van.

Clement reportedly sustained serious injuries over the course of the accident. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.

How Did This Accident Occur?

I can understand how it would be tempting for some to look at this accident—an early morning rear-end collision with a relatively young driver—and assume that it is a cut-and-dried case of driver error. However, I’ve been in this line of business for over three decades. In that time, I’ve seen plenty of car accidents in which evidence of less likely causes were unearthed by the investigation. Because of that, I’m slow to jump to conclusions.

To be clear, I don’t know more about this specific crash than anyone else outside of the investigation. I just want to suggest a hypothetical. What if the Kia failed to control it’s speed not due to driver error, but because of something like brake failure? A vehicle inspection done by a trained professional in a laboratory setting would be able to bright to light any mechanical malfunctions or product defects that played a role which might otherwise have flown under the radar.

Hopefully, investigators—whether the authorities or a third party—get one done. After all, the as he heals from this ordeal, the victim deserves to be given real answers supported by solid evidence, not vague assumptions based on surface-level investigation that conveniently saddle him with possibly unmerited blame.
