Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

It’s not often that someone in an 18-wheeler is on the losing end when it comes to injuries. There has to be more to the story than what authorities are letting on that would explain this disparity. Did the truck overturn? Did it crash into something off the side of the road? Were there issues inside the truck which may have made the driver’s injuries worse, such as a defective seatbelt? It could be there is a reasonable explanation here that would explain this being the rare case where the truck driver is the one in serious condition and not the people in the much smaller car. But I’ve had plenty of truck wrecks come across my desk where authorities only examined surface-level details, and it left truck drivers out in the wind looking for a way to tell their side of the story. It’s possible this is one such example of that, and there may need to be more thorough independent investigations to clear things up.
