Fort Smith, AR — November 16, 2024, Calvin Eubanks was killed and James Summers, Ricky Wofford and two others were injured in a multi-vehicle accident about 6:20 p.m. on State Highway 255.

The accident occurred at the end of a police chase that began when a state trooper attending to pull over a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am that did not have a license plate, authorities said.

The Grand Am sped through several red lights before crashing into three other vehicles at the intersection of 31st Street and S.H. 255, also known as Zero Street, according to authorities. It hit the first two vehicles at the intersection before flipping onto a third.

The two occupants of the Grand Am were ejected when the vehicle flipped, authorities said. Calvin Eubanks died at the scene, while a 23-year-old man identified as the driver suffered minor injuries.

The driver reportedly has been jailed to face potential criminal charges.

Authorities said James Summers, Ricky Wafford and a minor were injured in the crash, but reports do not detail their injuries.
