UPDATE (January 10, 2024): Recent reports have shed some light on what allegedly occurred in this incident. The three victims were reportedly traveling in a Ford F-250 with a trailer in tow along the southbound lanes of Capital of Texas Highway. At the time of the incident, they were in the vicinity just north of Walsh Tarlton Lane.

Officials indicate that the pickup truck and trailer began to fishtail, swerving left and right. Following that, the truck veered off of the roadway in an alleged attempt to avoid colliding with traffic in the lane ahead. It then crashed into a roadside ditch where both the truck and the trailer overturned, coming to rest on their tops.

The victim who passed away due to the accident has been identified as 21-year-old Byron Gutierrez-Rodriguez.

Austin, TX — December 7, 2023, one person was killed and three were injured in a pickup truck accident shortly after 1 p.m. along Loop 360.

According to authorities, the accident took place along the southbound lanes of Capital of Texas Highway in the vicinity of Stoneridge Road.

The cause of the accident is unknown. Photographs of the scene which have been published in the news depict what appears to be an overturned pickup truck and utility trailer. Emergency workers reportedly had to extricate one person from the wreckage who had been entrapped. In the end, two of the three people who had been involved in the crash reportedly sustained injuries and were transported to local medical facilities by EMS in order to receive treatment. One victim was declared deceased at the scene of the accident.

The incident is under investigation by local authorities. The weather and road conditions in the area were not specifically reported on, however photographs show apparently partly cloudy skies. Additional details—including the identities of those involved—are not available at this point in time.
