Burnet County, TX — April 27, 2024, Brandon Wright and one other were injured following a car accident at around 6:00 p.m. along County Road 404.
Authorities said in preliminary statements that the crash happened near the intersection of County Road 404 and County Road 413, near Spicewood.

According to officials, 39-year-old Brandon Wright was a passenger in a Ford F-350 with a 45-year-old woman driving the vehicle. They were going eastbound when the vehicle apparently stopped, and the driver got out. In a series of events unclear, the vehicle rolled forward, going over the driver, and went off-road where it hit a tree.
The woman in the pickup apparently sustained serious injuries while Wright’s injuries were described as moderate. Additional details about factors surrounding the accident are unclear.
I certainly don’t know more about this wreck than what’s already public. But something I talk about a lot on this blog is the narrow scope of most police investigations. For example, with a situation like what’s described here, I would want an investigation to consider the likely scenario—that the vehicle wasn’t in park—as well as the less likely possibility—that a defect caused the vehicle to move when it shouldn’t have. Generally speaking, authorities won’t have the tools or training for something that unusual, so it can easily slip through the cracks. So whatever led to this accident, it may be necessary to simply know if authorities are asking all the proper questions here. If not, they may be missing something the victims involved need to know.
