Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
When crashes like this one occur, it’s easy for people to assume they stem from a single moment of error or misjudgment. However, in my experience, wrecks involving large trucks often require a deeper examination to fully understand what went wrong and why.
What led to the head-on collision between the Hyundai Elantra and the Peterbilt 18-wheeler? Was either vehicle out of its proper lane, and if so, what caused it to deviate? Could driver distraction, fatigue, or impairment have played a role? Mechanical issues, such as tire failures or brake malfunctions, might also be contributing factors. Investigating these questions is essential to understanding the series of events that led to this fatal crash.
Additionally, it’s important to evaluate the role of the trucking company responsible for the Peterbilt. Was the truck properly maintained and inspected to ensure it was roadworthy? Did the company provide its driver with adequate training and enforce compliance with safety regulations? Trucking companies have a duty to prioritize safety, and any failure to do so could have contributed to this collision.
Ultimately, the goal is to uncover the truth and provide answers to those affected by the accident. Even if it requires conducting an independent investigation to obtain critical evidence, it’s essential to examine every factor to ensure those impacted by the incident receive the clarity and closure they deserve.
