When it comes to single-vehicle car accidents, things can often be more challenging than folks may realize. They figure since there’s just one car involved, things are simple. But investigations have to be thorough enough to consider even unlikely possible factors. Too often, though, authorities will just look at the evidence that’s apparent at the scene, then make their conclusions and move on.
What about mechanical defects? What about road hazards? What if the victims are too seriously injured to give their side of the story? What if authorities overlooked video evidence from nearby businesses or residences? Over the years, I’ve seen authorities let countless details slip through the cracks. Without safety nets in place, that crucial evidence can be lost for good. Perhaps authorities here have been more prudent and gave the crash the attention it deserves. But if representing the facts fairly required more thorough, independent investigations, it certainly wouldn’t be the first time.
