People might see the detail that a deer caused this crash and figure that’s that. But sometimes, investigations can find that the cause of the crash and the cause of someone’s injuries are two different things. For example, we had a case not long ago where someone’s seatbelt was defective. They were wearing it properly, but it failed to lock during a wreck, causing them to suffer otherwise preventable injuries. What was particularly concerning there is authorities completely missed the defect. It didn’t come to light until our more thorough independent analysis of the victim’s vehicle. I’m not saying that happened here or even that it’s likely. My point is that there could always be more to the story than initial statements suggest.
