Single-vehicle wrecks like this are actually some of the more complex types of accidents people may find themselves involved in. That may seem odd, but the challenge is that they’re not often seen as a high priority, so authorities may not really give them the attention they deserve.
There could be unusual or complex factors involved, such as mechanical defects, tire failure, road design flaws, missing signage or lighting, or drivers who were unlawfully over-served by an alcohol provider. Authorities, though, may not bother considering anything beyond fatigue, speeding, or distraction. That’s why I get so many calls from folks who feel authorities never really gave them any clear answers, and that’s why independent investigations often come into play.
At the end of the day, families deserve to know they’re getting the full story. It’s just unfortunate how many of them assume authorities will handle that only for their efforts to come up short.
