Bergen County, NJ — May 4, 2023, Ronald Appel was killed as the result of a tractor-trailer accident at around 7:50 a.m. along Interstate 287.
Preliminary details about the crash provided by the New Jersey State Police said that the crash happened near the Skyline Drive exit in the Oakland area along the southbound lanes of the interstate.
According to initial investigations, 56-year-old Ronald Appel was the driver of a tractor-trailer going southbound along the interstate. Due to a series of events not yet clear, the tractor-trailer left its lane and crashed into the guardrail. This caused the tractor-trailer to overturn. It’s unclear if any other vehicles were involved in the crash.
Due to the rollover, Appel sustained fatal injuries. Reports did not list anyone else as being injured as a result of the truck wreck. Authorities continue to investigate potential factors leading to the crash. No further information can be confirmed at this time.
