A crash on Interstate 81 in Rockbridge County left 23-year-old Domingo Sanchez-Lopez of Roanoke dead and several others injured. Authorities said the wreck occurred around 3:38 p.m. on Thursday at the 199.6 mile marker. A 2004 Freightliner tractor-trailer allegedly merged into the lane of a 1995 Ford Super Wagon, forcing the Ford to swerve. The driver lost control, sending the vehicle into the median where it rolled multiple times. Sanchez-Lopez, a passenger, later died at the hospital. The driver and two other passengers sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
