Monday morning, a fatal collision occurred on the southbound Highway 99 off-ramp to Lathrop Road in Manteca, California. According to the California Highway Patrol, a street sweeper traveling at approximately 40 mph reportedly struck the rear of a parked big rig on the shoulder. The big rig was stopped outside of the traffic lanes when the crash occurred. The street sweeper driver suffered critical injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital, where they later died. A passenger in the big rig was not injured.
