A Carthage, Texas man, 34-year-old Zapien German, was killed in a crash early Saturday morning in DeSoto Parish. According to Louisiana State Police, German was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado eastbound on Louisiana Highway 172 around 6:45 a.m. when a 2025 Mack Pinnacle traveling south on Highway 169 allegedly entered the intersection. The Mack truck allegedly collided with German’s pickup, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver was not injured. The investigation remains ongoing.
