A three-vehicle crash in Burke County claimed the life of 58-year-old Linda Rochelle Walton Dixon on Friday morning. According to the Georgia State Patrol, the crash happened on Georgia Highway 24 near mile marker 14 when a tractor-trailer traveling east struck the rear bumper of a Chevy Colorado. The impact pushed the Colorado into the westbound lane, where it collided head-on with a Dodge Dart driven by Dixon. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities will also need to examine whether the semi-truck driver was traveling at a speed appropriate for the conditions or if distraction played a role in the crash. Reviewing the truck’s Engine Control Module (ECM) could provide data on speed, braking patterns, and throttle use leading up to the crash. Investigators may also examine cell phone records to determine whether the truck driver was potentially distracted at the time of impact.
