A crash involving a FedEx delivery truck and a pickup truck left one person dead Thursday afternoon on Highway 181 in Burke County, North Carolina.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the collision occurred around 1:30 p.m. in the Oak Hill community. Authorities allege the FedEx truck pulled into the path of a southbound pickup truck, causing the pickup to overturn and crash into a guardrail. The driver of the pickup, 67-year-old Rex Ivy Powell, died at the scene. The FedEx driver suffered minor injuries and was later charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle and failure to yield the right of way.
