Connecticut authorities are investigating a crash on Route 8 that claimed the life of 45-year-old Jimmy Bedard of Wolcott. According to State Police, Bedard had pulled his Mercedes-Benz over to the shoulder after an earlier accident when a 2020 Ford F-450 traveling southbound suddenly lost control. The truck reportedly veered left into a median barrier, then crossed the lanes and struck both Bedard, a nearby pedestrian, and the previously disabled Mercedes-Benz. Bedard was pronounced dead at the scene. A 46-year-old Shelton woman also sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
