Accident Report
Talbot County, MD — April 24, 2026, two people were injured in a truck accident at about 8:50 a.m. on Queen Anne’s Highway/State Route 404.
Authorities said a westbound semi-truck collided with an eastbound dump truck while trying to turn left onto Ocean Gateway/U.S. Route 50.
Both drivers were flown to an area trauma center with undisclosed injuries after the crash, according to authorities.
Authorities have not released any additional information about the Talbot County crash at this time.
How Did This Accident Occur?
It is not clear how these trucks collided, based on what has been reported about this crash so far. Did the semi-truck fail to yield as it turned? Or was the dump truck speeding through the intersection? Or did a mechanical issue with one of these trucks contribute to the crash? It’s going to take a full investigation to answer these questions.
Investigators likely will start by gathering witness statements, evidence from the scene, data from both trucks and any available video footage of the crash. Cell phone data may show what the drivers were doing at the time, while the trucks’ maintenance records could offer additional clues. An outside expert likely will be needed if authorities suspect a mechanical problem could have caused this crash. In my experience, most law enforcement agencies don’t have the necessary training to diagnose such problems.
Going through these steps will provide answers for the injured drivers and their families, while showing who was responsible for the crash.
