How Did This Accident Occur?

A multi-vehicle crash on a highway often happens when someone is on their phone, going too fast for traffic, or making unsafe lane changes during congestion. This early in the morning, fatigue also needs to be part of the conversation. But ruling out other possibilities, like mechanical defects or issues related to a commercial driver’s unsafe working conditions, for example, take more thorough investigations than people may realize.

I can’t begin to count how many times I’ve spoken to families who were left in the dark for months after a crash because they just assumed authorities were going to cover everything. However, authorities don’t often prioritize accident reconstruction beyond what’s readily apparent at the crash scene. Company records, maintenance logs, inspections for defects, phone records, medical history, training procedures—this all tends to only come to light after independent accident reconstructions.

So, if authorities seem to be moving on too fast from this crash, it may be wise to consider having another set of eyes look things over. If anyone saw something here, let me know in the comments what your thoughts are.
