How Did This Accident Occur?
When people see a single-vehicle crash, their immediate assumption is generally that the driver did something wrong. That’s certainly common, considering things like distracted driving and unsafe speeds. However, all kinds of things can go wrong that drivers can’t always avoid.
Did a tire blow out? Did the truck’s trailer become unstable and pull the truck out of its lane? Was this caused by a medical condition? Did the truck hit an object in the road? Has the vehicle been inspected for potential defects?
Common and uncommon alike, I’ve seen all kinds of factors lead to crashes like this. That’s why it’s important investigations can at least rule out these possibilities. If authorities are doing that here, that’s good. But if they’ve treated this like a low priority, then it’s possible important information could slip through the cracks if there isn’t a second set of eyes looking things over.
