Accident Report

February 23, 2026, a teenager was injured due to a pedestrian versus box truck accident sometime around 10:30 a.m. along Buckman Drive.

According to authorities, a 19-year-old woman was on foot at a crosswalk in the vicinity south of the Buckman Drive and University Avenue intersection when the accident took place. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, the woman was struck by a box truck. She reportedly sustained critical injuries as a result of the collision and was transported to a local medical facility by EMS in order to receive immediate treatment.

How Did This Accident Occur?

I don’t pretend to know more about what happened in this accident than what has been reported in the news; however, I can say that, based on pedestrian-truck accidents I have seen in the past, driver inattention is highly likely to be a factor. Drivers of such large vehicles bear the responsibility of remaining hyper-aware of their surroundings, especially in areas highly populated by pedestrians like this one, a college campus. You can comment on whether or not you agree with me, but this happened in an area regularly traveled by pedestrians, and at a crosswalk, no less. The driver of that truck was likely not paying the attention they should have, and that young woman paid the price.
