Accident Report

February 23, 2026, three people were injured due to a box truck accident at approximately 8:00 a.m. along U.S. Highway 70 Business. 

According to authorities, a woman was traveling in a Ford Mustang on U.S. Highway 70 Business near Auburn Knightdale Road when the accident took place. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, a box truck collided with the rear-end of three separate vehicles before also colliding with the Ford Mustang and overturning in the center median. The box truck apparently ended up overturning onto the Mustang. 

The woman was reportedly entrapped in the wreckage and had to be extricated by emergency personnel. Once freed from the aftermath, she, along with two others who had been hurt, were transported to local medical facilities by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment for the injuries they incurred over the course of the accident. 

How Did This Accident Occur?

I’ve seen this type of accident happen all too often, though, to be honest, the causes of these accidents tend to be far more varied than most assume. Was the box truck driver distracted or fatigued? Many companies try and cut corners by requiring their drivers to work longer than the legal limits. That could be why the truck rear-ended the vehicles in the first place. 

Then there is the fact that the truck overturned onto the Mustang. This makes me question whether the truck was properly loaded. If the load somehow shifted and caused the truck to overturn during the accident, then that is something that could most likely have been prevented if proper procedures had been followed. Let’s face it, though; we can wonder all we want, but the only way to understand what really happened in this accident is through thorough investigation. Feel free to let me know what you think, but I just hope the people in charge of the investigation are asking the right questions.
