Houston, TX — June 15, 2024, a teenager was injured due to an alleged DWI accident at around 6:00 p.m. on West Tidwell Road.
Authorities said in initial reports that the accident happened in the area of the Tidwell Road and Lost Forest Drive intersection.

According to officials, a 14-year-old boy was on foot at the time and was attempting to cross westbound lanes of Tidwell. While doing so, an eastbound vehicle lost control, careened across the median, and struck the boy. As a result, the teen sustained serious injuries. The driver reportedly wasn’t hurt.

At this time, details suggest the driver had been drinking, and authorities recommended charges for DWI. If that’s true, where did that alcohol come from? A lot of accidents like this involve people illegally over-served by a local establishment, and those alcohol providers can also be responsible for their role in the accident. The fact this happened at 6:00 p.m. wouldn’t change that, and in fact it’s more likely someone at 6:00 p.m. on a Saturday was out drinking than someone at midnight in the middle of the week. This is a possibility always worth looking into, but I’d say someone’s kid nearly being killed only makes it more crucial to get the full story here, especially if there could be a second wrongdoer out there who needs to face consequences.
