The man reportedly sustained serious injuries over the course of the accident. Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identity of the victim—are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
How Did This Accident Occur?
Most people will look at this accident and be quick to assume that driver error must have been the cause. I’m not saying that isn’t a safe bet. Driver error does play a role in the majority of car accidents. It’s just that I’ve been in this line of business for over thirty years. I’ve seen plenty of cases in which the investigations ended up unearthing evidence of causes that were not immediately apparent. That is why I’m slow to jump to conclusions.
That’s not to say I know more about this specific accident than anyone else outside of the investigation. I just want to point out that, hypothetically, any number of things could have gone wrong with the Silverado or it’s trailer to lead to the accident. Did the trailer fishtail, leading the pickup to lose control? Was there an issue with the steering mechanism? Did the Silverado experience tire failure? What about throttle or brake issues? Honestly, the possibilities are endless.
If the authorities are being as thorough and meticulous as they should be, then they will get an in-depth vehicle inspection done on the pickup and it’s trailer. That way any mechanical malfunctions or product defects that played a role in the wreck won’t fly under the radar. Should the authorities not take that step, a third party investigation can aways do it, instead; that way all the bases are covered.
After all, as he heals from this ordeal, the victim deserves a clear and detailed picture as to how and why it took place. Vague assumptions based on surface-level investigation that conveniently place all the blame on the victims shoulders just won’t cut it.
