Cameron County, TX — February 21, 2024, Ruben Ortega Landa was injured in a car accident just after 12:00 noon along Alton Gloor Boulevard.
According to authorities, 42-year-old Ruben Ortega Landa was traveling in a northbound Kia Soul on the I.H. 69E frontage road at the Alton Gloor Boulevard intersection when the accident occurred.
At that intersection, there are reportedly two lanes from which you can make a left turn onto Alton Gloor. The Kia was in the right of the two turn lanes, while a Jeep Grand Cherokee was in the left of the two. As the Kia went to make the left turn, for unknown reasons, the Jeep continued straight rather than make the turn from the left turn only lane. This resulted in a collision between the front right of the Jeep and the left side of the Kia.
Landa—who had been the sole occupant of the Kia—incurred suspected severe injuries as a result of the accident. He was transported to a local medical facility by emergency medical services in order to receive necessary treatment. No other injuries have been reported.
