Accident Report
April 11, 2026, Roberto Moreno Jr. lost his life and four others were hurt in a car accident at approximately 6:00 p.m. along U.S. Highway 67.
According to authorities, 25-year-old Roberto Moreno Jr. was traveling in an eastbound Ford F-150 pickup truck on U.S. Highway 67 in the vicinity northwest of the Best Lane intersection when the accident took place. Officials indicate that the Ford was allegedly traveling at unsafe speeds. It was subsequently involved in a collision between it’s front-right quarter and the front-end of an eastbound Chevrolet 3500.
Moreno reportedly suffered fatal injuries over the course of the accident. The 37-year-old man and 18-year-old man who had been passengers in the Chevrolet sustained serious injuries, as well, and the 27-year-old driver and 21-year-old driver received minor injuries, reports state. It was also noted in reports that the Ford apparently had defective or slick tires.
Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
How Did This Accident Occur?
It’s would be easy for most people to glance at this accident and point the finger at the driver of the Ford, simply because allegedly unsafe speed was noted in the reports. I’ve had the opportunity over the last three decades to analyze hundreds of car accidents, though. In that time, I’ve seen plenty of cases in which evidence of less likely causes ended up being unearthed by the investigation. Because of that, I’m slow to jump to conclusions as a general rule.
That’s not to say that I know more about this specific accident than anyone else outside of the investigation. I just want to point out that—while driver error has not been ruled out, as far as we know—something could have gone wrong with the Ford to cause the accident. Firstly, it was noted in the reports that the Ford had defective or slick tires. Did this have any affect on how the accident played out? Secondly, how do we know that the Ford’s speed was not a result of something like a throttle issue or brake failure?
Hopefully, investigators—whether the authorities or a third party—get an in-depth inspection done on the Ford pickup. That way, any mechanical malfunctions or product defects that played a role in the wreck won’t be allowed to fly under the radar. After all, the people left behind by the deceased deserve to be given a clear and detailed understanding of not only how the accident occurred, but why. That kind of clarity simply can’t be provided by surface-level investigation.
