How Did This Accident Occur?
Initial reports on this crash are light on details, so we don’t know if these vehicles collided during a lane change or if one rear-ended the other. We also don’t know if this crash was caused by a driver who was distracted, fatigued or even impaired. That is why a full investigation of this crash is vital.
Authorities will review witness statements, evidence from the scene, data from the vehicles and any available video footage of the crash. Cell phone data could show if either driver was distracted. An independent expert may be needed if investigators suspect a mechanical defect in one of the vehicles, since in my experience most law enforcement agencies don’t have the time or training for such examinations.
The family of the man who died in this crash deserves the answers that will come from a thorough investigation. Otherwise, they will be haunted by unanswered questions.
