At the very least, it is encouraging to see that there will be an opportunity for justice to be served for the victim’s loved ones, which sadly isn’t always how hit-and-runs end. But just because there is a charge against the alleged runaway driver doesn’t mean that’s all there is to investigate. It’s important to also know why that person ran. There’s often something they didn’t want authorities finding out about. Warrants, drunk driving, drug possession, a stolen vehicle—it’s not that often this sort of thing involves someone who just panicked. There’s likely more to this story, and there could be additional steps needed to truly ensure there is accountability for what happened.
