How Did This Accident Occur?
Late night crashes often involve things like alcohol, fatigue, and distracted driving. Perhaps something unusual happened here, but that’s up to the evidence to say. Of course, I have a lot of people ask me about crashes involving police vehicles. Folks are understandably skeptical of police “investigating one of their own.” To me, the solution is pretty simple, and it actually applies to just about any crash.
Victims and families can help ensure their situation is in good hands by taking their concerns and questions to the police as soon as possible. If authorities can address their concerns and show they’re working hard to preserve evidence surrounding the crash, that can help reassure people that the crash is being taken seriously. But if answers aren’t adding up and there are still too many unanswered questions, that can be a sign to bring in independent investigators to take over before something important slips through the cracks.
Does that seem fair? Let me know what you think in the comments.
