Palo Pinto County, TX — February 23, 2024, one person was killed in a pedestrian versus car accident at approximately 8:30 p.m. along U.S. Highway 281.
According to authorities, the accident took place on U.S. Highway 281 in the vicinity north of Farm to Market 3027.
The causal factors that led to the accident are still unclear. Officials indicate that the 23-year-old male pedestrian may have been attempting to cross the highway on foot when, for as yet unknown reasons, he was struck by a motor vehicle. The man reportedly incurred critical injuries as a result of the incident and was transported to a local medical facility by emergency medical services in order to receive immediate treatment. However, he was ultimately unable to overcome his injuries, having later been declared deceased.
