Accident Report

March 27, 2026, one person was killed following a car versus pedestrian accident at around 4:00 a.m. along US Highway 183.

Initial statements from officials say the accident happened along the southbound lanes of the highway between Anderson Mill Road and Spicewood Springs Road.

It appears a pedestrian was on southbound lanes of the highway at the time. While there, a pickup struck the pedestrian. Due to this, the pedestrian was killed. Authorities did not report any pending charges. Additional details are unavailable.

How Did This Accident Occur?

People tend to see a pedestrian hit on the highway and just assume everything is open-and-shut. That’s not the safest place for a pedestrian to be, so it’s obvious they messed up, right? Well, there could be extenuating circumstances to consider.

Sometimes, pedestrians on the highway are there due to an emergency. They may be next to a disabled vehicle. Sometimes, they’re actively trying to wave down traffic. Alcohol could be a factor, as well. I recall a case I had where a man decided to walk home after a night out—responsibly opting not to drive. But the establishment that served him did so unlawfully to the point he couldn’t tell where he was, and he accidentally wandered into the roadway.

The point is there’s no telling what happened here without a thorough accident reconstruction, including retracing the pedestrian’s steps leading up to the accident. Whether this all was avoidable or not, the victim’s loved ones at least deserve to know they’re getting the full story.
