Odessa, TX — March 14, 2026, a motorcyclist was injured in a hit-and-run accident at about 8:50 p.m. on Andrews Highway/U.S. Highway 385.

Authorities said a Honda Civic hit a Harley-Davidson motorcycle while turning left onto East University Boulevard, then continued driving.

The motorcyclist, whose name has not been made public yet, was flown to a Lubbock hospital with serious injuries after the crash, according to authorities.

The Honda driver subsequently was arrested on a felony charge of collision involving serious bodily injury, authorities said. A woman was charged with giving a false report to an officer for allegedly trying to cover for the driver after the crash.

Authorities have not released any additional information about the Ector County crash at this time.

How Did This Accident Occur?

At this point, it’s being treated as a foregone conclusion that the Honda crashed into the motorcycle while turning onto University Boulevard, but what if that’s not what happened? A review of available security or dashcam footage should confirm what happened, as part of the investigation of the crash.

A deeper look at the Honda may be needed to determine if it had a mechanical issue that contributed to the crash. That may require an independent expert, since many law enforcement agencies don’t have the time or training for such examinations.
