Coppell, TX — September 7, 2024, Miguel Consuelos Lopez was killed due to a car accident at around 10:45 p.m. along Sandy Lake Road.
Authorities said in their initial statements that the crash happened off the corner of Sandy Lake Road and Coppell Road.
According to officials, 35-year-old Miguel Consuelos Lopez was in a Chevy Silverado going westbound on Sandy Lake. While rounding a curve, the vehicle ran off the side of the road where it crashed into a utility pole. The vehicle then overturned.
As a result of the crash, Consuelos Lopez sustained fatal injuries. There did not appear to be anyone else involved in the accident. At this time, no other details are available.

I can only hope that authorities were more thorough behind the scenes than these preliminary statements suggest. Unfortunately, though, single-vehicle wrecks can slip through the cracks. They’re not often seen as a high priority, so officers may be rushed to move on to other jobs before they’ve really had a chance to dig into the details.
This is why I get so many calls from families who find themselves weeks or months after a crash still as in the dark as they were on day one. Of course, not all departments are the same. When families find their concerns are being addressed and questions answered, it’s usually because authorities are doing proper, thorough investigations. But when folks still have doubts and unanswered questions, it’s only reasonable they’d look elsewhere for someone who could pick up where authorities fell short.
