How Did This Accident Occur?
There is no way to know what happened on State Highway 146 with the scant details made public so far. That is why I always stress the importance of a proper investigation.
Authorities will go over witness statements, evidence at the scene, data from the involved vehicles’ engine control modules and any available dashcam or traffic camera footage to piece together what happened at this intersection in Texas City. That is the best way to reconstruct any accident, in my experience.
If a forensic examination of the vehicles is needed, an independent review may be warranted since most law enforcement agencies don’t have the time or training for such work.
