How Did This Accident Occur?

This may seem like a simple crash, at first glance, but there are still questions to be answered. Did the truck have working brake and taillights? Did the Chevrolet have an issue with its brakes or steering mechanism? Was the construction zone properly marked?

Each of these scenarios could explain how this crash happened, but investigators must dig into evidence at the scene, data from the vehicles and any available dashcam footage. An outside expert may be needed to inspect the vehicles to rule out, or confirm, a mechanical defect that could have contributed to the crash.
