Accident Report

March 1, 2026, Manuela Gonzalez and one other were injured following a car accident at around 10:47 p.m. along Highway 36.

Authorities said in preliminary reports that the accident happened near TX-36 and Sens Road, just north of Sealy.

According to officials, 50-year-old Manuela Gonzalez was in a Honda Accord going northwest on the highway. A Chevy Cobalt was going southeast. Authorities say that the Chevy failed to stay in its lane, and the vehicles collided.

Due to the crash, Manuela Gonzalez reportedly had serious injuries while the Chevy driver’s injuries were described as moderate. Additional details about the accident are unavailable.

How Did This Accident Occur?

A vehicle reportedly failing to maintain its lane is usually due to cellphone usage. That’s why cellphone data is one of the first things I want to see from an accident reconstruction. It can even include GPS data, which might reveal things like the vehicle’s speed, its behavior prior to the collision, and sometimes whether or not the driver had been at a local bar.

But that’s just the common explanation. Further investigations could show this all was due to something unavoidable, like a tire blowout or the Chevy hitting something in the road. That’s why I discourage folks from jumping to conclusions just because those conclusions are likely. It’s up to the evidence to say what happened. Not only does that help avoid wrongfully putting blame where it doesn’t belong, but clear evidence can help ensure accountability falls where it should.
