Grayson County, TX — January 28, 2024, Lavonia Kay Crockett was injured as the result of an alleged drunk driver accident at around 9:21 a.m. on East Main Street.
Initial details released about the accident say that it took place in the area of the East Main Street and Mulberry Street intersection.

According to officials, 63-year-old Lavonia Crockett was a passenger in a Jeep said to be going westbound on Main Street. Passing Mulberry, it appears a southbound Ford Explorer ran a stop sign and crashed into the side of the Jeep. As a result, Crockett sustained apparently serious injuries. The two drivers had no confirmed injuries.
Following investigations, authorities alleged that the Ford driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. They recommended a charge for intoxication assault.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
Anyone familiar with this blog knows that a question I have after just about any drunk driving wreck is, “Is there a local alcohol provider who over-served the alleged drunk driver and needs to be held accountable for their role in the crash?” Well, just before 10:00 a.m., that’s not very likely. But I’d never suggest that a possible factor’s likelihood makes it more or less worth investigating. Folks involved in a serious crash deserve to know they’re getting all the facts.
I’ll put it another way: Which of these situations is more preferable: wait a bit longer for investigators but ensure nothing important slipped through the cracks, or get answers as soon as possible without knowing if they’re telling the whole story. To me, the choice is clear.
