Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

Call me a broken record, but I’ll ask here what I do after any single-vehicle wreck: Is this crash getting the attention it deserves? To be clear, I don’t have any specific information to make me skeptical about this crash. But all the time, we get calls from people who lost a loved one in a single-vehicle wreck, and authorities left them with a mountain of unanswered questions. Why is that?

The unfortunate reality is single-vehicle accidents are not a high priority for most departments. Unless they have a dedicated accident reconstruction team, they can easily overlook complex possible factors, such as mechanical defects or road hazards. Instead, authorities often just assume the driver did something wrong. They end up being right a lot of the time, but they also inevitably end up blaming some victims for accidents that weren’t their fault.

That’s why it’s best to simply let the evidence speak for itself. Doing so means ensuring the crash is in the hands of investigators who won’t let that evidence slip through the cracks. Is this accident in good hands?
